Students will study how optical illusions work and how we can use them in our artwork to create structure and form.

Big Idea: Adventure

​

Students will read Jumanji and use it as a framework for studying composition (exploring Edgar Allen Payne). Then students will curate photographic comic strips.

Iceland: Land of Legends

6th grade

2 weeks

Big Idea: Legends

​

Students will be doing a deep dive into Iceland, it's culture, and it's land. They will learn about it's location on the tectonic plates and all of the amazing things that exist there as a result. Then connect famous Icelandic folklore (which many locals still believe) to these locations.

Isometric Textured Fruit Cubes

High School 9-12

1 week

Big Idea: Juice

​

Students will be turning fruits into cubes! They will focus heavily on the idea of getting glossy realism from their work as they attempt to render fruit that is appealing to a consumer's eye through texture.

Neo-Realism Exaggerated Portraits

7th/8th grade

1 week

Big Idea: Exaggeration

​

Students will take a field trip to Sao Paulo (virtual). After exploring the space, and taking in art from Brazil, we will talk about Neo-Expressionism and utilize it as a framework for our own self portraits.

Digital Painting

Ages 8-13

1 week

​

Students will explore digital painting techniques iPads. Goal is to complete a texture cube, self-portrait, and a landscape, in addition to any other explorations they may have during the week.

Game Design

Ages 8-13

1 week

​

Students will explore Unreal Game engine and try their hand at either a 1st Person Perspective Game, or a 2D Platformer. Student creativity acts as the main catalyst for their projects.

Character Design 2D/3D

Age 8-13

1 week

​

Students will dive into the concept art process and work all the way to a finished character - in either 2D or 3D.
